Spiritual Warfare
Filed under: Biblical Teachings, Godly Principles, The Faith Walk, What Does the Bible Say About That?, Word of Exhortation
All of human history and all human-divine encounters have taken place in the context of spiritual warfare. The entire biblical account, from Genesis 3, where spiritual warfare began for humanity, to Revelation 20, where it ends even for Satan and his evil kingdom, expresses ongoing conflict between good and evil.
Spiritual warfare can be defined as the believer’s multidimensional war against personal sin and to warfare with Satan and his fallen angels. Each and every Christian must learn what spiritual warfare (2 Cor. 2:11; 10:3–5; 11:3) is and how to avoid the dangers and pitfalls that lurk beyond our natural vision. [1]
“Spiritual Warfare” although it affects us all, is very personal. The Bible tells us; “For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Eph. 6:12 RSV) In other words: Satan is out to get us, he wants to destroy us, he wants us dead, he is “the accuser of the brethren” and he accuses us day and night before our God. (Rev. 12:10 RSV) Isn’t it considered personal when someone either wants you dead or is trying to kill you? This is the context with which the modern Christian must conduct him or herself, knowing that we are all in imminent danger if we aren’t careful.
Every day we read in the papers where someone has been killed or someone has been robbed and someone has stolen millions of dollars from the elderly, etcetera, etcetera, and etcetera. We normally say that this is because there are evil and wicked people in this world and that is true. Those who aren’t believers in Christ will be judged as sinners. However it is important to know that their influence is spiritual. “We are not contending against flesh and blood…” means that people are not totally to blame, they are not the instigators. The Scripture continues with “…but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” To be clear, the Scripture is saying that spiritual wickedness of outside entities are responsible. The devil, demons, they are responsible for the wickedness that takes place in this world.
If we examine the Book of Job, this book is a classic example of what spiritual warfare is all about. The Book starts out telling us about a man who is blameless (righteous) and fears God. Then it says that; “the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan was with them.” The Lord then asked Satan; “Where have you come from?” Satan replied, “From Earth, where I’ve been watching everything that’s going on.” Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth a good man, who fears God and will have nothing to do with evil.” Satan says; “Why shouldn’t he when you pay him so well? You have always protected him and his home and his property from all harm. You have prospered everything he does, look how rich he is! No wonder he ‘worships’ you! But just take away his wealth, and you’ll see him curse you to your face!” Job 1:7-11 TLB
Satan’s jealousy of God and his intense hatred of mankind has always been the center of this warfare, and it will always affect us, whether or not you are Christian. It was Spiritual Warfare when Satan took the life of Job’s sons and daughters. It was Spiritual Warfare when Satan attacked Job’s body with boils. It was Spiritual Warfare when Satan attacked Job’s property. And it will be Spiritual Warfare when Satan attacks you.
It is Spiritual Warfare when you are a minister serving under a pastor that resembles Satan more than the Christ. It is Spiritual Warfare when you’ve been in the same church for 15 years and no one but you can see that your church no longer serves Jesus. It is Spiritual Warfare when you turn 60 and you think things are finally looking up, but you find that you have now been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It is Spiritual Warfare when your friends and loved ones tell you that what you are doing is wrong when all you can see is Christ. It is Spiritual Warfare! Well I don’t know about you, but Satan can have my body, but my soul belongs to Jesus! Satan can take all my substance, but he cannot take away my love for the Lord. Satan can blind people to the truth and influence them to speak against me, but I can still see Christ and Him Crucified.
Brothers and Sisters, too many of us we simply go from day to day thinking that nothing can happen to us because we love the Lord. The Bible says; “…He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matt 5:45 NIV) Bad things happen to good people. The Bible says; “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” (Ps 34:19 KJV) That means that you are going to have to go through something. I have a friend that says; “We are always in three stages of existence. We are either going into a storm, we are in a storm or we are coming out of a storm.” The question is not if, it is when.
We are fast approaching the last and evil days; we can either leave this old world in defeat or in victory. We are facing the most powerful enemy ever known to mankind, complacency is not an option. The Bible tells us that Satan is the accuser of the brethren. His only agenda is to see each and every one of us dead, whether we serve him or not. It is time for us to raise the level of Spiritual awareness among Christians, concerning this daily battle with a very dangerous enemy. We are mankind at war!

The Reason for the Season

Well for those who have never heard of Christ or never heard the story of Christ being born and why he died, you might think the reason for the season is santa claus and his elves and giving/receiving gifts. But I must let you know, as a believer; JESUS is the reason for the season. Many have not heard his life story and many are tired of hearing about his life story. But if it wasn’t for Jesus dying on the cross, none of us would be alive today. He carried our sins so that we may have life and live abundantly. He shed his innocent blood for each and every one of his, believer and non-believer. And he gives us chance after chance to have a closer relationship with him and to get to know him.
Many people back when Jesus was alive didn’t know who he was and they mocked him and some could care less. Others didn’t believe he was the Son of God and didn’t believe his teachings; until they seen that he healed the sick and caused a blind man to see. They didn’t believe in him until he healed the lady with the issue of blood for 12 years; until he healed the man with leprosy; until he arose on the Sabbath (third) Day of his death (just to name a few miracles). The tomb was rolled back and he was gone! Jesus is the reason for the season and for those who believe in him will not perish but will have everlasting life. Those who believe him won’t lack where the world lack; when the economy is going downhill with losing jobs and homes; Gods people will not lack food, homes, and jobs. For those who look at and to the president and current things going on in the world, God keeps his people so they won’t have to worry. But you have to have faith in God and trust him. He has many promises for those who believe in him. And if you don’t know him it’s not too late to start!
Yes, there are those who have never heard of the stories and testimonies of Jesus, the Son of God and there are those who don’t believe in him but I’m a living witness that Jesus is real and his promises to his people are real and he really does keep his promises. He is not like man but He is promise keeper. And his words never return to him void; meaning he has to do just what he said he’ll do because he is not a liar. Jesus words and works are ministered and taught through evangelism. And you don’t have to have the title of a pastor, deacon, elder or minister to evangelize; because evangelism is simply telling, teaching and sharing the gospel of Jesus. And the gospel of Jesus is always about his good works.
To sum up my writing on “The Reason for the Season”, JESUS is the reason for the season! This season is not about giving and receiving gifts. But it’s about the birth of Jesus on Christmas and the things he has done for all of us while he was alive and when he died to live again. We can spend any amount of money on gifts and toys but without Jesus the Christ no one is truly happy. Jesus is love and He is the reason for the season. Be Blessed!

Righteous Indignation
I would like to share something with you that I wrote last December 2009, and I wrote it during one of the most difficult times in my life. At that time, I was going through major stripping –stripping of everything – and I had to let go of my house, vehicle, people and certain comforts for a much higher purpose. At the time I wrote this, I was crushed in spirit yet still determined to do all that God required of me. As I face new challenges today, I do take the time to reflect on all that God has brought me through. There was times when I thought there is no way that I can make it through this; yet God sustained my mind, my strength and my faith.
My prayer is that someone who may be going through a similar process may be encouraged today to continue to go through that which God requires of them; for there is certainly a radiant Light at the end of the tunnel. Destiny and/or true anointing requires that a price be paid; however that required price pales in comparison to the price that is paid when we forfeit our destiny.
May the strength of God be with you always and may He lead you into all the greatness He has for you, in the name of Jesus! Amen.

THIS IS REAL TALK!
Originally written December 2009
.
Joy eludes me and anger is trying to consume me;
Nothing is coming up roses;
Everything is coming up thorns;
Yet You still say, “Trust Me”
.
But I am angry with You, Lord;
When You told me to leave all that I knew to follow You, I obeyed;
When You told me to forsake my evil ways and give up my lustful desires, though I at times fell in the process, I obeyed;
When You told me to resign leaving my only source of income, as terrifying as it was, I still obeyed;
When You told me to speak no matter how hard the message or how high the cost, I cried then I obeyed;
When I was confronted with persecution and accusations, You told me to keep on going, and I obeyed;
When all seemed lost You still said, “My child, there is more that I require of you”, and I said, “Yea, Lord” and I obeyed.
..
But now Lord, look at my heart as it bleeds and see how everything and everyone has fallen down around me;
There are some who think I’ve caused these calamities upon myself, while others simply question the level of my sanity;
The good name I worked so hard to establish has been utterly destroyed;
And the only means of transportation I had has been repossessed;
My home, the beautiful home You blessed me with has been foreclosed, and now homelessness awaits me;
I turn to the left just to find that I’ve lost a child and to my right are the remaining children seeking my strength and direction;
But I have nothing to give but pain and despair, yet, through it all You tell me to trust and follow You.
..
Burdens and hardship continues to mount up on every side;
The brook has dried up and You no longer command the ravens to feed me;
I cry to You, “Lord, what’s next? Where is the provision?” Yet Your answer is deafening silence;
All the while the devourer lurks in the shadows seeking to do more than just destroy me;
He wants to use me to hurt You;
He uses soothing words to entice me and makes all kinds of promises in hopes of seducing me;
He even says he can give me beauty for ashes and gladness instead of the aching pain I feel inside;
All of these are mine, he says, if only I serve him.
.
But who can stand against the Lord and live? And though I am broken, I am not ignorant of the enemy’s schemes and lies;
I know that no matter what, You are still God and there is NO ONE, including all of hell, who can stand against You;
Great and Mighty is Your Name, You are the Lord of hosts, the Great I Am, the great King of Glory;
You are everlasting to everlasting and there is NO wisdom, NO insight or NO plan that can succeed against You;
Though I am cast down, my heart still burns for You and aches for You, and I so seek Your glory, Oh Lord;
If You say You will never forsake me, then it is that which is true; therefore, somewhere provision lies and awaits me;
Arise, Oh Lord, and let Your enemies be scattered; renew my joy which is my strength; anoint me afresh with Your Spirit and bring me higher in You;
Restore me, Oh God, so that I may war for You, and through all of this mayhem, show me Your glory.
.
Your Word says the prayers of the righteous avails much and I know it is these prayers that brings me strength on this day;
While I continue to walk through this valley of death, continue to press their hearts to pray for me;
And let their words be not their own words but the words of the Greater One within them;
And help me, Holy Spirit, to keep my eyes steadfast on the Father and not on the place of isolation and desolation;
Forgive me for any and all sin, and even in my suffering be magnified and glorified, let the people of God be edified and the body of Christ purified;
And let me be healed now in Jesus’ Name, let my mind not wander to dark places but let it be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work and Word of the Lord;
You say in Your Word to let the weak say they are strong, so in Jesus’ name I confess now that I am strong!
Thank You, Lord, for rescuing your servant and for leading me down the path that brings a greater glory to Your wondrous and sovereign Name.
Real talk.
Amen.
Purpose in Pain

When my family and I moved to Georgia, we literally left on the command of God. However, just because God commands you to do something doesn’t mean the road ahead of you will be cleared of obstacles.
The past four months have truly tested our faith. Its one thing to say, “I’ll trust you Lord no matter the circumstance”, but my question to you is will you have that same attitude when it comes time to walk that circumstance out?
I’ve come to encourage someone with my testimony today. Here’s my story:
July 6th is when my family and I arrived to Georgia. Thanks to God, four days prior to leaving, the Lord opened a home for us to stay in temporarily. About a week after arriving to GA. I begin seeking employment within customer service (specifically in call centers) with companies such as AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
Hearing nothing from these companies, I unwilling begin seeking employment in an industry I said I never wanted to return to, fast food restaurants. I applied to Chik-Fi-La, McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s and the likes still unable to get my foot in the door!
I begin getting discouraged. I would travel each day to nearby cities by FOOT going from store to store looking for employment for about 7+ hours a day only to hear “we’re not hiring” OR “we’ll contact you if your qualifications match our needs”
I remember times where I’ll come “home” frustrated and upset. Application after application, phone call after phone call I felt as though I was getting nowhere. Upset with God and life I was ready to give up!
In the middle of all this, my family and I moved around 2 times before we finally checked ourselves into a hotel. Mind you, we only had enough money to pay for one weeks rent; LITERALLY! This only added stress to the need of finding employment and getting it quickly.
One day, I said to my mother, “you would think because we were obedient to God’s command, He would make things easier for us!” Being the awesome mother she is, she was able to encourage herself and I in the Lord!
On many occasions, I was ready to drop my bags and give up on God. I didn’t want to pray, read the bible nor tithe and give offerings. However, what kept me were the very things I was tempted to give up on and thanks be to God, I pressed through those temptations.
I begin to pray and read the Word of God more because (1) I learned that faith ONLY comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God and (2) I was expecting God to produce a miracle in my life. In addition, if I was expecting God to bless my family and I financially, I knew tithing was a must and NOT an option. So I begin tithing and offering the little I did have unto the Lord. I was holding on to God’s promises as it is written in Malachi 3:10, “…prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].”
Although I expected a financial breakthrough from God, my family and I realized we weren’t obeying the Lord completely. Months ago, God gave us a business to work on, BV Online Media. However, we stopped working on it because we allowed our circumstances (lack of funds) to take priority over what God told us to do.
After realizing we had no excuse not to work on BV Online Media, as we witnessed God sustain us week after week, we decided to obey God and work on our business while I continued looking for employment.
Once we begin believing God instead of our circumstances, that’s when things begin to change. September 30th, I received a phone call from HHGregg, an appliance and electronic store, asking that I come in for an interview that following Monday (October 4th) at 1:00PM. That Monday during Morning Prayer, I begin thanking God for the interview.
“God, I thank you for this opportunity of employment. Father, I ask for your favor and blessing. I claim that this job in mine in Jesus name!”. As I was praying, the Holy Spirit brought back to my remembrance, “…whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).
That’s when my prayer changed, “God you said in Your word that if I ask it in Jesus name, I shall receive it. God I thank you for this interview I have today, but God I ask for your favor with FedEx (a job I interviewed for weeks prior). I ask for employment with FedEx in Jesus name. With this job (FedEx), I’ll be able to take my family “outta” here (hotel).”
After prayer, I begin preparing for my 1PM interview with HHGregg. During preparation, my mother informed me that I missed a phone call. Checking my voicemail, l rejoiced at what I heard. It was FedEX informing me that I got the position and to expect an offer letter.
I rejoiced in the Lord because after being tried, tested and realizing that I am not to forfeit one of many visions, BV Online media, God answered my prayer! I asked for a selection of jobs that I would be able to choose from and within a period of 7 days, a total of 3 companies showed interest in working with me: HHGregg (retail), FedEx (call center) and CarMax (call center).
From this experience I have learned that just because God says something or gives an instruction doesn’t mean the red carpet is going to roll out for you and you’ll be smooth sailing. At times, there will be obstacles that you’ll have to face. But those obstacles are there to strengthen and build you up in the Lord, not to break you down.
My blessing didn’t come until I made a decision to trust God, be obedient and realize that this job is a tool to help my family and I along the way as we press toward destiny and purpose.
Although I didn’t appreciate the process I had to endure at the time, I appreciate it now because through it there was a breaking and bolding process.
Be encouraged and know that ALL THINGS (even the bad) will work out for your GOOD! There is purpose in your pain! I encourage you to stand firm on your faith! Don’t give up on God and trust God at His word.
God bless you in Jesus name, Amen!

Not everyone will understand the call that God has on your life, but will you still answer it anyway?
Sometimes the very people you’d think would be your greatest supporters are the very ones who will relentlessly try to instill doubt in your mind, but will you turn a deaf ear to them and an open ear to God?
When it feels as though unseen forces are working against you, and that’s because they are, will you still continue to press forward in the name of the Lord?
When your closest friends turn into your biggest haters and begin to slander you, mock you and speak all manners of evils against you, will you keep your focus and wait for God to vindicate you?
Will you obey God even when it hurts and even when you don’t understand?
Will you move when He tells you to move, although it may appear as though He’s moving you to a place that’s tougher, harder, and completely outside of your comfort zone?
Will you continue to stand even when the burden seems far heavier than what you can bear?
Will you still hope when hope seems hopeless?
Will you still follow God even when it seems unprofitable and as if you’re losing more than you’re gaining?
Will you still be faithful when it seems as though people who serve God less than you do yet gets more from Him than you do?
Will you absolutely refuse to conform to what the popular majority demands and adhere to all that God commands?
Will you obey God no matter what the cost?
Will you still have faith though it seems as though your prayers have gone unanswered?
Having lost all, will you still give more?
Despite your ability to flow effectively in the spiritual gifts God has given you, and the praises of men you receive as a result, will you still humble yourself under the mighty hand of God?
When people think you’re “super holy” because of the obvious anointing on your life, and begin to exalt you as a result, will you correct them and put their focus back on God and their relationship with Him?
Will you preach and teach God’s unadulterated, uncompromised, untainted Word?
Will you allow God to interrupt your day to go minister to others and do the things that He wants you to do though it may completely interrupt your plans?
Will you still talk to and lean on God even during the times when it seems as though He’s silent?
When He slays you, will you still trust Him?
When it seems like you’ve given all that you can, yet He says “There is still more that I require of you”; will you still follow Him?
.
Ministry is nothing to take lightly. It is a serious responsibility and it usually comes with a great cost. If God called you to a particular ministry (preacher, fivefold, deliverance, etc), simply embrace the call then allow Him to lead you in how He wants you to walk in that call. Don’t walk ahead of Him nor far behind Him, but rather with Him; allowing Him to cultivate you so that you can reach your full potential.
Don’t be shocked if your friends and family members begin to scatter, GO FORTH ANYWAY!
If it seems like all hell is breaking loose in your life, GO FORTH ANYWAY!
Even if church members begin to ridicule you and try to make you feel insignificantly low, GO FORTH ANYWAY!
God has equipped you to be able to walk in your divine calling, effectively; however, it does require your trust and obey Him. It also requires that you allow God to humble you, which is often a painful process; however, it is a much needed process. We tend to want the crown without the cross, but the Bible says in John 15:20 that the servant isn’t greater than the master; therefore if Christ had to go to the cross before getting His crown, then so do we! And us having to go through this process isn’t because God wants to make us miserable, but rather for us to become more intimate and dependent on God; which is absolutely needed in ministry. Our “going thru” also makes us more wise, patient, stronger, effective, compassionate and more able to relate to those whom we minister to. In addition, it’s also for our good, as we do not want our hearts to become prideful which can easily happen as God promotes you from glory to glory. You want to always keep your eyes focused on the prize, which is Christ Jesus! In Mark 8:36, Jesus asks, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” You do not want to gain earthly things at the expense of your soul. It’s not worth it. Let God be God and you just trust Him. He knows and is able to do much more than you could ever fathom, able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that you can ever ask for or think.
God bless you and your ministry!!!

SCRIPTURES
“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” Mark 8:34 NIV
“Let not many of you become teachers, my brethren, knowing that as such we will incur a stricter judgment.” James 3:1 NASB
“For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels and to men. We are fool’s for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong: ye are honorable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place; and labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; being defamed, we entreat; we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.” I Corinthians 4:9-13
He said: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me; they and their fathers have been in revolt against me to this very day. The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and stubborn. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says.’ And whether they listen or fail to listen—for they are a rebellious house—they will know that a prophet has been among them. And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious house. 7 You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious. 8 But you, son of man, listen to what I say to you. Do not rebel like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.” Ezekiel 2:3-8 NIV
When the Righteous Cry

Triumphant
When the righteous cry, the Lord hearth and delivereth them out of all their troubles (Psalms 34:17). God has spoiled us to a certain extent that he gives us favor when we don’t think we deserve. Why? Because He is faithful. He is love, longsuffering, gentle, kind… the list goes on. So many times we cry out to him in doubt and fearing that he doesn’t hear our cry. But the whole time he saying, “Just be quiet and listen.” “Lo, I am with you always”. Gods’ still small voice is such an awesome sound to hear but we can’t really seek and/or find him because we’re sooo loud and going wild when we can’t have our way or when were going through certain things. We even think we’ve got everything under control neglecting Gods role in our lives.
As we go through life day-to-day, daily we are tested. We’re talked about, misunderstood, lied on, lied to, falsely accused, stabbed in the back by “so-called friends, mentally and verbally abused, let down, bashed, we go through trials and tribulation. Yet, God always sees us through. When the righteous cry, He’s going to love us anyway and with that comes favor. We have to go through each process of life so that God can reveal himself to us. And the good thing about going through is that God won’t ever put more on us than we can bear. He will never put you in a situation that your faith will fail. Hebrews 11:6 says: “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him”. We must also remember that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28); and that’s us, the believers of Christ.
Whatever you’re going through, whatever the situation, give it to Jesus! Things aren’t going to get better until you give that burden to The Father. There is nothing too big or too small for him. And nothing will be strange to him because he knows exactly what you need and exactly when you need it. He’s All Knowing. Even when we say to ourselves “I’m good, I can handle it, I got this, I got this!” God wants us to give him every situation and every problem so we won’t have to bear the pain of hurting ourselves and even others. The devil wants us to give up and cry but there’s nothing like asking for Gods guidance and His extra protection. He is the problem-solver and a wonderful counselor. He waits for us daily to come to him; when we’re attacked with distress and worry. For when the righteous cry, Yahweh hears and answers with deliverance and with his mighty power to set his free. We gotta be the opposite of what the devil wants us to be! He can’t see the end results but God can!
