This afternoon I was updating a few of the sites that I manage, and while doing so, I was listening to the songs I have on my ITunes playlist.  Just then one my favorite songs came on – a slow ballad-type song sung by Anthony Evans, a Christian-pop recording artist.

The song has such a soft and beautiful melody; however, the words are powerful and they actually tell the story of my life, up until recent and over the last 17 months.  If you’ve never heard of the artist or the song, I urge you to go online and download some of his music.  However, whether you do or you don’t, I’ve copied below the lyrics to the song I was listening to, which is titled “The Way that You Love Me”.  I am sure that I am not the only person who can relate to the lyrics of this song.

I pray that your strength in the Lord and that you are blessed!

“The Way That You Love Me” on Album titled, “The Bridge”

Sung by Anthony Evans

This heart breaks slowly, tell me what are You doing to me.

When I prayed do what it takes I didn’t know I’d lose everything.

Everything that meant anything to me is gone.

Something right has to come from this wrong.

It is the hurt that breaks me.

It is the pain that pulls me to my knees.

And the tears, they’ve changed me to what I couldn’t see, become so clear to me.

This is the way, the way that You love me.

My way destroyed me, I couldn’t see I was my worst enemy.

So You took away till my soul ached and I knew that it was no mistake.

That everything that meant anything to me was gone.

Something right has to come from this wrong.

It is the hurt that breaks me.

It is the pain that pulls me to my knees.

And the tears, they’ve changed me to what I couldn’t see, become so clear to me.

This is the way, the way that You love me.

You love me so much that You let me, You let me fall knowing that I would lose it all and hear Your call.

You love me so much that You chase me. When I ran away You captured me by letting me run

To the end of myself. To the end of myself.

And this is the way You love me. The way You love me.

It is the hurt that breaks me. It is the pain that pulls me to my knees.

And the tears, they’ve changed me

To what I couldn’t see, become so clear to me.

This is the way, the way that You love me. The way that You love me.

God bless!!!

Get Your Anointing

Many people desire the anointing that they see in others and often wonder why they don’t have the same.  As we explore the truths of the scripture on this subject let The Word speak to you in spirit and truth.

1 John 2:20 states “But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.”

The word unction in this scripture simply means anointing.  John is referring to the indwelling of The Holy Spirit (anointing) that will reveal all things to us.  This can only be accomplished according to the will of God, which determines when, what and to whom truths are revealed.  This is the anointing that so many seek as they progress in their relationship with God.  The anointing (indwelling of the Holy Spirit) combined with the fear of God brings about a divine understanding of the scriptures.

Proverbs 1:7 states “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

We must operate within the realm of fearing (reverencing) God to gain the anointing we so desperately desire.  The indwelling of His Spirit will guide us to fear God in a manner that is pleasing to Him.  This will open the doors for wisdom and instruction to be received by the seeking believer.  The fear of God doesn’t make one not approach The Father but rather draws one to the very foot of His throne.  As we come before the throne seeking answers from The Father, the fear of Him humbles us so that we can receive what He has for us.  The ability to come before the throne is available to all who have realized that they need a savior.

This is in contrast to the teachings of the Old Testament where the anointing was set-aside for only kings, priests and prophets.  The anointing we seek is not for a select group of individuals but is available to all.  It has been made available to everyone who believes in The Lord Jesus Christ  thru the sacrifice of Christ’s crucifixion.  The door has been opened for all sinners (man/woman) to be saved by His death, burial and resurrection.  The saving grace that comes thru the shedding of The Lamb’s blood allows us to receive the anointing, which is The Holy Spirit.  There are some today that still believe that the anointing is only for a chosen few but our God is no respecter of person.  All who will submit their lives to The Lord Jesus The Christ can attain this spiritual anointing.  The word Christ itself means The Anointed One as in the one sent from The Father.  As the blood of The Lamb transfigures and transforms us we must as Paul admonishes, “put on The Lord Jesus Christ.”  In order to put on Jesus we must have the same mind in us that was and is still in Jesus.  This mindset was the one, which allowed Christ to be obedient, even unto death.  As our mindset is changed and our old stony heart renewed, we then become anointed.  This occurrence causes us to yield our lives over to God for the purpose of performing His service.  Thru this anointing, our lives are no longer our own but are now tools for Him to use.  As we abide with Christ, His blood will continually cleanse us from all unrighteousness (Romans 3:24-26).

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, I say, at this time His righteousness: that He might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

As the cleansing progresses, the indwelling of The Holy Spirit will become more abiding.

1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him.”

Christ’s blood secures us so that The Holy Spirit may anoint a person’s heart and mind with the love and truth of God.  As you continue to seek your anointing (unction) remember, it’s free, secured and available to all thru The Lord Jesus Christ.  So go to Jesus and get your anointing.   The Spirit is waiting.

Finding The One

I’m at a point in my life where I’m very comfortable being single.  Being single and saved does take work, but you can do it!  So often, women get caught up in the idea of having a man.  Ever heard this one:  ‘Any man is better than no man,’?  Society has pushed the focus on being “boo-ed up”.  Take Hollywood for example, it’s as if every woman has to have a man by her side and vice versa.  Now this is not to say that some relationships aren’t genuine, but those which are tend to be few and far between.

So why is the divorce rate so high in the world and shockingly even higher in the Kingdom?  Because people are finding who they think is ‘the one’ before they’ve found “The One”.  In reality, many of these relationships end in failure because they weren’t led by God.

“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there.  If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” – Galatians 5:24-25

So in essence, if we allow the Holy Spirit (The One) to guide our lives, including relationships, then we shall be connected with the one.  Remember, the Lord desires for us to be happy, but true joy comes in seeking Him first.

Don’t Give Up!

Current Mood:Anointed emoticon Anointed

I received the following from a dear friend and sister in the Lord and I wanted to share it with you.  You see, at the time I received this, it was in my heart to actually contact her so that I could be encouraged because I was dealing with a lot at the time.  However, once I got to my computer, I found this email and it put a smile on both my face and in my heart because I knew it was the Lord using her to encourage me.

I pray that this does for you that which it’s done for me.  God Bless!

One day I decided to quit….
I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
“God”, I asked, “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?”
His answer surprised me…
“Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”
“Yes”, I replied.
“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them.
I gave them light.
I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said.
“In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would
not quit.” He said.
“Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared
to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant…But just 6
months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle.”
He asked me. “Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots”.
“I would not quit on the bamboo.
I will never quit on you.”
“Don’t compare yourself to others.”
He said.
“The bamboo had a different Purpose than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.”
“Your time will come”, God said to me.
“You will rise high”
“How high should I rise?” I asked.
“How high will the bamboo rise?” He asked in return.
“As high as it can?” I questioned.
“Yes.” He said, “Give me glory by rising as high as you can.”
I left the forest and brought back this story.
I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.
Never, Never, Never Give up.
For the Christian Prayer is not an option but an opportunity.
Don’t tell the Lord how big the problem is,
tell the problem how Great the Lord is!

There’s No Better Teacher Than Experience

Current Mood:Highly Favored emoticon Highly Favored

A few years ago I broke up with my boyfriend of three years.  We began dating my senior year of college and things had become quite serious rather early on.  However, it turned into a rocky relationship to say the least.  We argued and argued and argued.  All the time.  He cheated on me during the first year, and yet I stayed with him.  I had always said that if I were in a relationship and someone cheated that I would leave.  Not the case here.  My self-esteem was at an all time low.  Now don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t perfect in the relationship either, but no woman deserves to be treated as I was.

We talked about marriage often.  In my mind, this was the man I was going to marry.  So then why did I hurt all of the time?  Why did I feel so empty?  After graduation I started attending services at Mt. Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church because at the time I was living with my cousin and she was a member.  I began sitting under the leadership of a man who once had self-esteem issues.  A man who was involved in bad relationships.  A man who prevailed through God’s grace and is now stronger than ever because he trusted God.  I learned that God is our ultimate Creator and if we can’t trust Him, then who can we trust.  The Word says:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

I hit a turning point.  It was as if I had hit rock bottom and there was nowhere else to go.  I began to climb upward.  I sat under my spiritual father who constantly taught that we were all created in God’s image.  And that He has a plan for all of our lives.  I was important!  My self-esteem grew and I began to apply God’s teachings to my life:

“No one will be able to stand their ground against you as long as you live.  For I will be with you as I was with Moses.  I will not fail or abandon you.” – Joshua 1:5

I knew now that I didn’t need to be in a relationship.  I could live my life trusting in God, and God alone:

“Now glory be to God! By His mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope.” – Ephesians 3:20

On Christmas Day, 2007 I broke up with my boyfriend.  I had never felt so free in all of my life.  Six months later, I met a young woman who had recently relocated to Virginia from Las Vegas.  My family sort of “adopted” her because she didn’t know anyone out here besides people through work.  We started to form a friendship and began sharing our stories.  As it turned out, she had just ended a relationship with someone who had been holding her back from truly being the woman that God had called her to be.  It all started to come together.  I realized that God took me through my experience for a reason.  It all made sense.  I would have never been able to minister to my friend had I not experienced and LEARNED from my situation.  Now we stand, two strong, beautiful women working with a purpose.  In the end, God’s plan is perfect – and it will always prevail.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes

Always guard your eye and ear gate.

Have you ever seen a vampire movie?  If so, have you ever noticed how in most vampire movies they make the vampire appear cool or attractive? Sometimes after watching a vampire movie you want to become dark or imitate ways of a vampire.  If you think about, vampires are creatures that hate anything to do with God.  So why as Christians should we support this?

Vampire movies, such as Twilight, are becoming more popular. People are becoming obsessed over movies like these, especially teens and young adults.  I see people walking around with vampire teeth and hearing stories about people permanently getting vampire teeth done to their mouths. I even see people in my school wearing vampire shirts, inspired by Twilight, and rubber bracelet saying “Vampires are cool” or “Vampires are awesome”. People overlook the fact that vampires are not of the Lord and what’s not of the Lord is of the devil.

We need to expose the enemy for what he is and we also need to be knowledgeable in the fact that he uses different ways to come against the people of God, including TV, movies, and all other kinds of media.  Satan is not going to warn you when he’s trying to harm or trick you and his feelings toward us have always been consistent – he hates us.  He is known for his trickiness and is often ultra subtle.  A good example of this is in Genesis 3:4 when the devil tells Eve, “You will not surely die”, knowing that was completely opposite to what God had said.  He knew that if he could get her to disobey, not only would she die, but the fall of all mankind would begin.

I believe the enemy is using vampire movies and other movies focused on darkness to lure us and to ultimately destroy us.  This is why we must monitor what we allow to enter our eye and ear gate and be mindful of the kinds of surroundings we put ourselves in.  Though watching a vampire movie may seem harmless, there are things actually happening in the spiritual realm; all of which can affect our spirit.   It doesn’t matter if you can see or feel it, it does affect our spirit.  Let us be careful with our movie and music selections, and pay closer attention to what surrounds us.  I pray that you receive this and that you have the strength to remove things that would hinder your spirit, or that is not of the Lord. God Bless!

The Battle is Over!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Early last month (Dec. 9th to be exact) I read an article from the Word For You Today (December 2009 – February 2010 edition) book that we receive through our church each quarter.  The article was titled, “The Battle is Over” and it uplifted me in so many ways.  I was so touched by the article that I decided type it up so that I could share it with you.  However, though I did type it up, for some reason, I did not post it that same day, and eventually I forgot all about it.

Well, today as I was trying to organize a few of my electronic folders and files, I bumped into this article.  At first it took a few moments for me to remember that I typed this from the booklet and then I re-read the article and was blessed all over again.

Below is the article and I pray that as you read it, you are edified, encouraged and blessed, just as I was all over again.  I pray that after you finish reading this encouraging article, you will let go of any hurts or pains from your past so that you can move forward and walk into your God-given destiny!

“Tell… [your children]…the mighty things I have done.”  Ex 10; 2 NKJV

THE BATTLE IS OVER

It’s not enough to escape your past, its power over you must be broken; otherwise it’ll chase you the rest of your life. When you break away from something that keeps trying to recapture you, it’s crucial to get victory over it; otherwise you can’t move forward and enjoy the blessing God has in mind for you. It’s jarring to think something’s over only to find it isn’t. But remember, it was God who permitted Pharaoh to pursue Israel all the way to Red Sea. Why? For two reasons: (1) “That I may show [you] these signs of Mine’’ (Ex 10:1 NKJV). God wants you to see that when you put your trust in Him, obstacles and opposition mean nothing. He wants this experience to be a “landmark memory” you draw faith from when you face your next problem. (2) “That you may tell… [your children]… the mighty things I have done.”  You don’t have to live under Pharaoh (Satan’s rule) any more. Like the Passover, when the blood of Jesus was applied by faith to the doorposts of your heart, your status changed. You’re no longer a slave but a child of God. The generational curse is broken. Your children can now grow up under God’s blessing. Abuse, alcoholism, anger and abandonment may have been the story of the past, but it’s no longer the truth about your future.

God can solve your problem in different ways, but sometimes He takes you through the Red Sea so that when you get to the other side you can look back and see Pharaoh and his armies “ dead on the seashore” ( See EX 14:30) and know the battle is over!
